Festive Fashion Inspiration

Our regular customers will know that here at Two Ducks we’re passionate about bringing you the best fashion collections, and search high and low each season to find the right brands and pieces. Choosing for the festive period is the biggest challenge of all – who can resist a rail of sparkly tops, velvety dresses in jewel-like tones and cosy, chunky knits?! It’s a tough job, but we’re really proud of the collection we’ve created.

If you’re feeling a little uninspired – or perhaps overwhelmed – at the thought of dressing for your Christmas commitments (let’s face it, it can be just one more thing to think about at this busy time of year), we’ve pulled together some outfit styling ideas. Let us help guide you through with effortless ease, or perhaps inspire you to try something a little different.

What’s more, we’re delighted to announce that from Friday 7th December, we’ll be taking 20% OFF all full-price fashion! Go on… Treat yourself! 😃

Outfit dilemma #1: Christmas Night Out

Whether it’s your office Christmas do or that traditional festive get-together with the girls, this outfit should reflect the celebratory spirit of the season, but also needs to be versatile – taking you from restaurant to pub or cocktail bar, then on to a nightclub if needs be!

The easiest way to achieve this is by opting for separates – trousers or a skirt which you can easily wear to work that day, then dress up with a gorgeous top, some sparkly jewellery and an extra flick of mascara…

Christmas Night Out Styling

Our Part Two black trousers are perfect for just that. The colour will go with anything, and the loose-fitting, silky fabric will add understated elegance to your look. Try teaming them with our metallic gold Just Female top and watch how it shimmers beautifully as it catches the light. Throw on a black jacket like the EseOEse faux fur bomber for a super-chic finish that’ll also keep the December chills at bay.

Alternatively, if you’re more of a jeans girl, pair your go-to slim or skinny denims with our Just Female blouse – a staff favourite! In black and blue, it offers a more refined take on the leopard print trend. The open back adds just the right amount of allure to counter the long sleeves and high neckline, while metallic accents provide that obligatory twinkling touch.

Dear Denier TightsIf a skirt’s more your cup of tea, whatever its length, make sure you complete the look with a fabulous pair of tights. Hailing from Copenhagen (we can’t get enough of those Scandi brands!), sustainable hosiery label Dear Denier is another new arrival here at Two Ducks this season. Full of cool and original designs, they make great tights, plus sparkly socks too!

Here’s Claire having a rest with her feet up working hard at modelling them… 😉

Outfit dilemma #2: Christmas Day

Of course you want to go all-out with your look on Christmas Day, but the practicalities of hosting, or being hosted, plus the continuous eating and drinking mean comfort is key! Let us help solve the dilemma with our choice of beautiful midi dresses – they not only look the part, but won’t protest as you reach for another mince pie.

Just Female Leopard Print Dress
Leopard print worn by our customer Jenny

If you’ve fallen head-over-heels for the leopard print trend, then this Just Female dress is the one for you! The cut is super-flattering – the V-shaped neckline and slightly gathered waist create a defined, feminine shape, while the skirt flows elegantly to sit at a very wearable midi length. Capitalise on this by teaming it with a chic ankle boot, then use the deep neckline and 3/4 length sleeves to show off your favourite jewellery.

Alternatively, if Christmas is your excuse to get the velvet out, then you have to try this Part Two outfit… Worn together it gives the impression of a dress, but it’s actually a separate skirt and top, so offers three different outfits in one. The rich blue hue is festive without being too predictable, while the stretchy fabric is fabulously comfortable. Rock it like Lucy does – with glittery heels.

Outfit dilemma #3: Boxing Day

Part Two JumperWe love heading out for our annual Boxing Day walk – it’s the perfect way to blow out the cobwebs of the day before with much-needed fresh air and exercise. It’s also a perfect opportunity to wrap up and show off your collection of cosy knits.

Those Danes know a thing or two about snuggling up for cold weather, so look to Part Two for jumpers that are both stylish and irresistibly cosy. Our top pick is this super-soft, mohair-blend purple number – a welcome antidote to the overload of festive reds and greens, it’ll keep on working its magic well after the Christmas period.

Part Two CoatIf you’re in the market for a new coat, this diamond-quilted jacket – again from Part Two – is just the ticket. Warm without being bulky, it’s slightly waisted for a flattering look, while the longline cut creates an elegant silhouette. Why not jazz it up with some of our Suzie Lee Knitwear? Hand-woven in the Kent countryside from beautifully soft wool, her scarves, hats and hand-warmers come in a choice of fabulously vibrant colours that’ll instantly lift any outfit.

Outfit dilemma #4: New Year’s Eve

Just Female Jumpsuit

New Year’s Eve is the one night of the year when you should unashamedly embrace ALL THE SPARKLE! At Two Ducks we’ve got a wonderful collection of NYE-worthy pieces to help you see out 2018 in style…

Our favourite is this playsuit from Just Female – so dazzling it’ll give the London fireworks display a run for its money! Comfortable and easy-to-wear, the wrap-over front makes it really flattering, while side pockets tone things down by adding a slightly more relaxed feel.

For a New Year’s Eve look that’s less statement but no less glamorous, why not try one of our dresses? Again from Just Female, this velvet number comes in fabulous teal and is cut to a flattering design finished with a striking asymmetric neckline that’s perfect for showcasing necklaces.

A little more understated, this black dress from Part Two plays into two trends. Not only does it firmly support the ‘black is back’ mantra, but the texture trend is also ticked thanks to fringed detailing that’ll swish and sway as you move. The sheer sleeves are great if you prefer to keep your arms covered, while the classic colour is an ideal base for layering necklaces.

Wolf And Moon Earrings

Speaking of necklaces, this season we’ve got a fantastic choice of jewellery brands for adding that perfect finish. For unusual, contemporary pieces check out Wolf & Moon – an East London-based brand that draws inspiration from art, architecture and the natural world.

Also London-based, Decadorn produce stunning pieces from hand-selected natural crystals and minerals, and offer everything from small stud earrings to statement pendant necklaces.

My Doris Cocktail Rings

Add some wow-factor to your fingers with one of our My Doris cocktail rings. They’re easily adjustable to any finger size and come in a choice of bold colours impressively modelled here by Amber!

Last but by no means least, customer (and staff!) favourite Astrid & Miyu are back with their signature dainty gold pieces – perfect for adding understated sparkle, or creating an on-trend multi-layered look.

Our best advice of all for dressing this season though, is to be confident and have fun! What you wear should make you feel good first and foremost, so if you would like a little extra advice or encouragement please let us know. Get in touch if you’d like a styling appointment, or simple drop in and ask – we’re all more than happy to help! 😊

Some kinds words from customers who we’ve helped with fashion styling…

Just wanted to say a big ‘Thanks’ for having me be part of your Two Ducks fashion night. You have such a good eye for styling and your customers would have confidence in what you advise them… I know that Penny bought things that she wouldn’t look at normally so I think people just need a little nudge in the right direction, and who doesn’t love a bit of personal attention?

I absolutely love the skirt and top that I bought. I wore the top to work yesterday and got compliments immediately. I have a list of things to come back for – the paperbag trousers  and the gorgeous metallic floral top. It’s all too lovely!

From Judith who kindly modelled at our recent fashion styling event

I just wanted to say thank you for asking me to be one of the Two Ducks models at last night’s fashion show. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I felt so proud to be part of the Two Ducks team. Everyone looked amazing in the clothes they wore.

I came home on quite a high. Doing this for me was a way of drawing a line under the last couple of years so thank you for giving me that opportunity.

I’m sure those at the fashion show who have not yet visited Two Ducks will do so soon and they too will find many irresistible temptations as well as such a warm welcome. You and your team really do a fabulous job and the passion you have is truly inspiring.
